What QuickToilet is

QuickToilet is a free map of public toilets, on the web and as an iOS and Android app, run by Stijn Soetaert, Belgium. It combines OpenStreetMap and open-data sources with what people using it add: votes, cleanliness ratings, answers to questions, comments, photos and new spots. There are no paid tiers and no advertising at the moment. By using it you agree to these terms and to the privacy notice.

The data is best-effort

The map is built from public sources and from other people’s contributions. A toilet may be closed, moved, locked, out of order or gone; opening hours and fees change. Verify on site. We provide the service as-is, without any warranty that a listing is accurate, complete or current, and we are not liable for what happens because a spot was not as described — to the extent Belgian law allows.

What you post

You keep ownership of the comments, photos and spots you add. By posting them you give QuickToilet a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, distribute and adapt them (resize a photo, shorten a comment in a list, translate a label) as part of the service and its promotion. Attribute-level contributions — whether a toilet is step-free, has paper, is free, its opening hours and position — may be shared back to the open-data community under the Open Database Licence (ODbL), without your name. This licence survives the deletion of your account, because a spot other people rely on cannot vanish with the person who added it.

Only post what you have the right to post: your own photo, a comment that is yours, a spot that exists.

Ownership and no scraping

The toilet data from OpenStreetMap and the open-data portals stays under its own licence — see Data sources. Everything QuickToilet adds on top — votes, ratings, comments, photos, user-added spots, the way they are combined and ranked, the design and the code — is QuickToilet’s.

In short: except where a source licence says otherwise, QuickToilet's data and content may not be extracted or reused without permission; no bulk extraction or automated access. If you want the data for a good reason, write to [email protected] and ask.

What you may not post

No content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, sexual, violent, or that shows an identifiable person without their consent. No advertising, spam or links to unrelated sites. No fake spots, fake reports or coordinated voting. No private information about anyone — including yourself. No content you do not have the right to share. No attempts to break, overload or probe the service.

Moderation and takedowns

Every comment and photo has a Report action on the spot page; reports go to a moderation queue that a person reviews. For anything else — a spot that should not be listed, content about you, a legal notice — email [email protected] with a link to the content and what is wrong with it. We usually answer within 7 days — this is a one-person project, so it can occasionally take longer.

We may hide or remove content that breaks these terms, or that we are legally required to remove, without prior notice. When we remove something you posted we tell you why if we have an email address for you.

Accounts and ending them

You need to be 16 or older to create an account. One account per person; keep your password to yourself. You can delete your account at any time from Settings — see how deletion works.

We may suspend or close an account, and hide or remove all of its contributions at once, if it is used to spam, harass, post prohibited content, scrape the service or otherwise abuse it. We may also stop or change the service itself; if we ever stop it, we will try to announce it on the site beforehand so you can note down your saved spots.

Law and changes

These terms are governed by Belgian law. Disputes go to the competent courts of Belgium, unless mandatory consumer law gives you the right to your own courts. If we change these terms in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and the site says so for a while.
